"Francis said in response: "Labor unions in San Diego are mild and soft in comparison to labor unions in Nevada. . . . When the unions go too far you have to have the guts to say no." ..........Well the SDPD and SDFD unions have gone WAY TOO FAR, and I do nto see Francis saying no to them......"

"Talk about a deal with the devil...and this one goes in both directions. As our friend on here, Christopher Hall, would say, "Yuck!" Even just reading about all of this selling-out makes me want to go home and take a shower!"

"I can't wait to hear the double talk from the Doll Face Francis Mayoral Campaign 2008. I want to see all the facts and figures on the his campaign spending since 2005 because it grows more and more apparent he never stopped running for Mayor even after he lost first time around. RELEASE THE NUMBERS FRANCIS!!!!!"

"Will the real Steve Francis please stand up? How will any voter know which Francis is running now, the right wing ideologue of the last election, or the new, softer, pro-Labor guy? I think I'll take my chances with my favoritie candidate, Roger Rabbit, who's always the ideal alternative to the establishment candidate, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the downtown business establishment."

"Francis is a flip-flopping, pandering, chimera who will say anything he thinks will get him elected. The main difference between Francis and Sanders is that Francis wants to be Mayor so that he can be the Mayor; Sanders doesn't want to be Mayor, per se, he wants to fix the city. Unfortunately for Sanders that means having to be Mayor. Francis is offensive in his cynical reformation - what kind of fool won't see through his latest act? Best, Ronald"

"Scott, you hit the nail on the head AGAIN!!! When Francis ran for mayor last time he ran on an ultra-conservative platform. Now suddenly he's pretending to be liberal. DOES STEVE FRANCIS PLACE NO VALUE ON HONESTY? *arg!!* I can't believe a politician would lie so blatantly- HAS HE NO SHAME?!?!?!?! If Floyd Morrow doesn't make it through the primary, I'd support Jerry Sanders over Steve Francis because Francis is an out-right LIAR!! (and Mayor Sanders supports the freedom of lgbt couples to marry)"
7. Norman wrote on April 22, 2008 7:19 AM:
"This town doesn't care if people lie. If they did care, they would have voted for Donna Frye. Our current Mayor lied/lies. Sanders was going to come in and clean things up and get San Diego straightened out.....well he like Murphy's top 10 list didn't get his goal accomplished. So that line of trust me was worthless. Since the Voice seems intent on burying Francis, how about some news on Morrow to help the voters make their decision?"

"Steve Francis told me on Sunday in Balboa Park that he supports decriminalizing marijuana. He also said that he agrees the Petco Ballpork scam engineered by McGrory, Golding, and benefitting billionaire sports-mogul John Moores was a bad deal...but he thinks the statute of limitations prevents us suing for our money back. He says that he wants to talk with the Chargers, but pledged to spend no city money on any more stadiums. We'll see...remember, the unions don't love Francis, they just HATE Sanders."

"Hey Fred, maybe you should take over blogging duties for Scott Lewis. You certainly have better insight. This isn't about Francis, it's about Sanders at a time when he's negotiating. Who can't see that? Scott Lewis, that's who."
10. I'd attack Sander's wrote on April 22, 2008 12:53 PM:
"Larry, calling what Sander's is doing "negotiating" is getting pretty loose with the English language. There seems to be a heavy anti-union stance in the Voice and the UT. I am not a member of the City's unions nor are any of my family or friends. Of course I believe cuts need to be made within the City, but the Mayor seems to focus most of his attacks on AFSCME and he lets police and fire do whatever they want. The public also seems to accept privatization as the fix-all to pension issues, but no one bothers to mention the many cities that privatized their work force and now have returned to union labor after things fell apart. Do I believe the Mayor could fix these issues? Yes. I just don't think he has the political guts to do it the right way."

"May I reiterate, to all those disaffected Dems and other residents, the candidacy of Roger Rabbit for Mayor? Much better than the current Mickey Mouse candidates who occupy the two top spots."

"My recollection was that Ronald Reagan was a Democrat early in his adult life. Maybe Steve Francis has changed his views over the years. But until he commits to some of the progressive views he claims to hold most environmentalists or progressives will not vote for him. Is this election posturing or the real thing Steve?"
13. Fred Williams wrote on April 23, 2008 3:16 PM:
"Ian is correct. People can and do change. I campaigned city-wide as a Republican in 1994. Nowadays I'm completely opposed to what the Republicans have done both nationally and locally. I wouldn't vote for one of those religious-right wackos ever, and yes I DO think we have an environmental and economic emergency on our hands. I only hope Francis has had a similar turn-around in his thinking."

Actually the public does not want to see the City work force go private-what the public wants is fiscal restraint with the pulic jobs-no more of these pension and pay scams. If the public CANNOT get the government jobs in line with what the public gets, then we need to privatize the process-very simple."
